Occupational Hazard: Whale Kills at SeaWorld

2

This kid is lucky it wasn't lunch for Willy ... or else he would have been lunch.

A horrible thing happened at SeaWorld today: A killer whale lived up to its name and took out a Sea World employee as a show was starting, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

That’s pretty much why I would never work with wild animals.

Key word: WILD.

I think people often forget the occupational hazards that come along with working with wild animals. We go to zoos to “ooh” and “aaah” at beautiful creatures, but these things are instinctual hunters.

From the SeaWorld Web site:

Q: Why is a killer whale called a killer whale?

A: Killer whales are the ocean’s top predator, which means they eat just about anything they want — including other species of whales.

That’s the part of the interview where I go “OK, thanks for having me in, but I like software a little more.”
