Occupational Hazard: Truck Hits Pedestrian Bridge
Here’s a good “oooooh” video you can show your coworkers on this fine Friday.
A truck driver in Istanbul, Turkey clearly forgot the last step of his job before hitting the road on Monday — lowering the trailer attached to the truck.
Analysis of this occupational hazard below the video. And, no, that’s not Optimus Prime:

Autobots… I said "Roll Out!" not "Ignore basic safety precautions!"
1. I’m not sure if I should feel dumb for not knowing this, but I always assumed Istanbul had a warmer climate. Surprised by the snow on the ground, I checked Google Maps and realized it pretty much rolls in line with NYC. If this isn’t surprising to you, I guess I’m dumb.
2. Obvious question: How lucky is everyone that nobody was directly hit by the truck?
3. At the time of the collision, there appears to be four pedestrians rather close to the point of impact. The person on the left is helpless, and was the only person injured (non life-threatening), according to reports. It’s obvious the pedestrian sees the truck coming because he or she just stops dead in their tracks. IT’S TIME FOR ACTION WHEN YOU SEE THAT COMING.
4. Let’s shift focus to the right side of impact, where there are four people on camera. There is a pair walking closest to the point of impact. It appears that one drops to a knee and the other does not. Within a second, one of those two, as well as two others, further to our right, take off running. How stunned was that fourth person? I don’t know about you, but I would have run faster than Usain Bolt on that one. (Yes, I know I’m assuming I’d act perfectly in this same situation, because I would)
5. At first I didn’t want to get salty about the driver. I forget to do things all the time. A few weeks ago I left the dome light on and was jumping my car the next morning. But this is no dome light. So, yeah, I’m pissed at the driver. What the $(*# was he thinking (I’m assuming the driver is male).
6. How antiquated are trucks in Turkey (or maybe just this truck) that it doesn’t let the driver know the cargo isn’t secured properly? I’m assuming trucks that bleed Red, White and Blue would warn you sufficiently.
7. Did Michael Bay’s adrenaline skyrocket when he saw special effects come to real life?
8. Thank you for the friendly reminder at the end to drive carefully.
Is there a moral? I guess double check your work.
Have a good Friday.

driver 1: “Hey uh, Bob, your trailer is raised. Might want to put that down.”
driver 2: “10-4 good buddy.”
driver 1: “I don’t think you heard me. Your trailer is way the hell up.”
driver 2: “That’s a big 10-4.”
driver 1: “BOB YOU ARE ABOUT TO CAUSE A ROYAL SH1TLOAD OF DESTRUCTION AND DEATH”
driver 2: “Roger. Over and out.”
I am surprised that the truck’s transmission is even allowed out of park like that. I guess there are times it needs to drive with the back up?
I also want to point out how dumb the driver of the car following the truck must be. Do they not see that the truck is about to take out the walkway bridge? They must not, as they accelerate right into the disaster.
