Need Work? North Korea Hiring Soccer Fans For World Cup

1

One of the most entertaining parts of a World Cup telecast is the crowd shots. The fans are insane.

These two are not extras in "Ringling Brothers: A Broadway Circus!"

Sadly, fans from North Korea don’t have such privileges. They’re under the rule of a maniac who probably told the press to print that the country’s team won 3-1 on Monday, but could not advance because the world hates them (they lost 7-0 to Portugal).

Because nobody in North Korea can afford to actually go to South Africa to watch, the country paid people to cheer for them.

Among the 1,000 Chinese fans given tickets by North Korea for the World Cup in South Africa are actors and musicians who have cheered for China in previous World Cups, according to the Xinhua news agency run by the Chinese government.

The British newspaper The Daily Telegraph first reported on the hired fans from their Beijing bureau in May. Many others are Chinese tourists who paid for a tour package that included a game, a safari and a trip to a casino.

Are you sure you want to wave those flags on TV? You really sure?

Talk about a sweet job. Well, I dunno, is that a sweet job? Would you be OK with getting paid to cheer for a communist nation with an insane ruler?

Would you take such a gig?
