McDonald’s Hiring 50,000 Employees on April 19
If you got fired up when McDonald’s brought the McRib back, hold on to your trousers for this McNugget: the company is hiring 50,000 people on April 19.
Yes, 50,000 new jobs. Ronald and Co. are going to host a hiring event for full- and part-time positions at nearly 14,000 restaurants in the U.S.
To put this event in perspective, the federal government said the U.S. added 216,000 jobs in March. So one company is matching 25% of that in one day. Impressive.
Analysts and other brains around the country are crunching the corporate numbers:
- An additional $518M in wages and salaries in the coming year
- $54M in payroll taxes
- $3.5M in extra spending per day
Those are some big numbers. We’re happy McDonald’s is stepping up to the plate. This is such a smart move.
First off, the PR is fantastic. The country is crying for jobs and McDonald’s is providing.
Second, we applaud McDonald’s for its foresight. April 19 is the perfect day for this. Just one day later and we’re pretty sure McDonald’s would have a tough time finding 50,000 people to pass a drug test.
Lastly, and most importantly, we’re excited to see how Burger King will respond.
If they’re willing to admit in a commercial they’re ripoff artists, they need to get on the job bandwagon, stat. The only thing better than 50,000 jobs is 100,000.
