My younger brother was telling me about a speech he has to give for a class this week.

Did any of you take public speaking? The pressure can be immense, even for your class of 15. The same goes for any big presentation at work. There’s so many things to remember.

Gotta watch the “uhs” and “likes”

Gotta stay on topic. Gotta be interesting.

If you’re nervous, breathe with the audience. Try to keep a rhythm.

You know the drill. So if you have a presentation on a Monday, that sucks, but don’t follow suit with Filipino businessman Manuel Pangilinan.

A prominent Philippine businessman has resigned from a prestigious academic post after he was found to have made a speech plagiarizing [Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey and JK Rowling].

Talk about awkward. “Umm, Mr. Pangilinan…we know you didn’t coin Yes we can. Stop saying it’s a life motto you created.”

So if that speech is looming like a dark cloud this Monday morning, take a deep breath of confidence. You’re going to kill it.
