If you work in a large office like I do, kids are a fixture in the workplace during summer months. Parents sometimes get in a pinch and bring the kids by on a rainy day (even though our office is the most kid unfriendly place you can imagine).

I don’t blame my coworkers for being over excited about their children because, well, it’s their kids. But I just don’t care about your kid’s horse riding lesson when we catch the elevator together on Monday morning. Frankly, it gives me a case of the Mondays.

But this isn’t about me, it’s about all the parents out there. And I can think of one father who is having a monster case of the Mondays:

A [Ohio] man is facing unusual charges for pushing his children in a stroller while he was intoxicated.

I mean, I can definitely see Phil over in accounts payable taking Junior for a stroll after a few BL Limes. Sometimes you need a little buzz to drown out the crying, right?

Steven Melendez, 24, said he knows he was in the wrong for getting lit up and going to pick up a money order with his one- and three-year-old sons, but added “I mean I wasn’t stumbling stupid drunk or nothing but you know it happened, it’s over.”

Well, first off, I don’t think it’s over. He’s facing child endangerment and public intoxication charges. Secondly, Melendez says he was not “stupid drunk” — are we sure, Steven?

Police say he passed out when they took him to the Richland County Jail to be booked, and he had to be taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

I’m pretty sure that kind of response follows a little more than just taking the edge off.

Considering how eager Steven is to recap that incident of “quality time” with the kids, can you imagine how intense he probably gets when he talks about swim lessons or something actually positive?

Thank God he’s not sitting next to me this morning.
