Lawsuit: I Was Fired For Being Too Damn Hot
A friend of mine in the finance industry recently got a new job. When I asked him how things were going, he replied first with: “The women in my office are out of this world.”
He was rather excited. A far cry from what a woman’s lawsuit claims against Citi recently. Debrahlee Lorenzana said she was fired from Citibank because she was too attractive:
Her bosses told her they couldn’t concentrate on their work because her appearance was too distracting. They ordered her to stop wearing turtlenecks. She was also forbidden to wear pencil skirts, three-inch heels, or fitted business suits.

Citigroup says they eliminated Lorenzana, a banker, for performance reasons. Debbie, 33, has a pretty solid resume: She has been singled out for superb performance with multiple companies. She also claims a former (non-Citi) boss once had her come into his office to get her opinion on a picture…
…of his penis.
What a scumbag move. But that’s a different topic for a different day.
What really confuses us about this whole situation is that Lorenzana is supposed to work with clients, bring in new business, etc. Wouldn’t you want someone that’s both capable and extremely attractive representing your company? Shouldn’t you have a talk with your ape-like employees for not being able to focus just because another employee is shaped like a centerfold model?
If Lorenzana’s suit rings true, can we find out who her managers were and publically shame them?
