Infographic: The Shocking Disparities of Labor Cost
Living in the United States on minimum wage can be a tough, almost impossible feat. Working for the same wages in India and you are basically royalty.
Although we think our minimum wage standards are extremely low, it would take a person in India 24 years and 4 months to earn the equivalent in their country. Burger flipping isn’t looking so bad anymore.
Among the top countries with the greatest disparity between the United States are India, China, and Russia. It should be noted however, that China recently increased the minimum wage 20% after a series of labor disputes and worker suicides. It is now up to 1,120 yuan per month in Shanghai, the equivalent of $164 U.S. dollars. Ouch.
