Elementary School Principal Tells Mom to ‘Eat Sh-t and Die’
It might be time to start considering a “educators do the darndest things” feature on The Collared Sheep.
This time, a principal of a south Florida elementary school fired off an email with some rather candid thoughts about what a parent should do:
Parents at Coconut Grove Elementary School are calling for the ouster of Principal Eva N. Ravelo this week after she told a parent in an e-mail to “eat sh*t and die.”
According to the Miami Herald report, Ravelo was replying to an email originally sent by Abigail DuBearn, a member of the school’s Educational Excellence School Advisory Committee. Apparently she asked a rather simple question, about whether students could be notified and invited to the advisory committee meeting.
I guess Ravelo has a sore spot for DuBearn. She’s probably one of those overly involved, really annoying parents. So she fired off an email venting to what should have been her assistant principal, Ramón Dawkins.
Who hasn’t done this? When my micromanaging shepherd shoots an annoying email to myself and team, we often shoot IMs to each other blasting off like Ravelo allegedly did. But you have to be careful with emails — that REPLY button can be a little confusing, I guess. Throw in autofill? Someone like Ravelo might be rendered hopeless.
As of this morning, Ravelo is still employed. But now those PTA parents have an upper hand (apparently they want some control of the school).
My only question: Did Ravelo skip kindergarten, where they teach kindness?

Anyone else picturing Rooney from Ferris Beuller’s Day Off?

A few jobs back I wrote an email to my husband making fun of my boss & his mother…autofill kindly filled in my boss’s email address and off it went. Luckily he was out of the office and doesn’t know that Blackberries exist. But holy shit, not a good feeling.
