Sixth Grade Teacher Calls Students Losers
There are a lot of reasons that I’m glad I didn’t wake up this morning as Rex Roland, sixth grade teacher in North Carolina. But perhaps the biggest reason is because I am probably not having this conversation this morning with my boss:
Boss: Rex, I had a hell of a weekend because of you. The Associated Press is all over this, Rex. The f-n Associated Press.
Rex: I know. I’m really, really sorry. I really didn’t think I was doing much harm.
Principal: YOUR STUDENTS ARE 11 YEARS OLD.
Hopefully it ends with Rex being fired for calling a sixth grade student a loser and deducting points.

Mr. Roland, were you picked on as a kid?
When times are hard growing up in school, a teacher is always supposed to be there for positive reinforcement and proper development — not to bully them.
There’s a fun video that goes along with this story, which hopefully is scatching enough to carry some serious implications for Rex Roland, assuming the allegations are true.
First off, great camo shirt the mom is rocking. Gotta be looking right when them fancy AP cameras show up at the house.
Second, I’m pretty sure I’d take a job as a bathroom attendant at a $4.95 All-You-Can-Eat Chinese restaurant before moving to Buncombe County, N.C. I’m not sure I want to live near anyone who condones Rex Roland calling his students losers.
Third, have a great Monday. At least you’re not Rex Roland this fine morning.
