Bus Driver Fired For Snapping On Students

All aboard the case of the Mondays express!

If you think about it, our case of the Mondays started long before we entered the professional world.

Think back to those early Monday morning alarms when you were in grade school. You knew your homework wasn’t done and you’d have to convince someone to copy off them on the bus. (If you’re saying, “I didn’t do that” then we probably weren’t good friends back in the day).

Anyway, I came across this story yesterday and it got me thinking back to those grade school case of the Mondays, when we didn’t know what that was…

The Albert Lea Bus 344 driver whose actions caused students to chant “Racist, racist, racist!” a week ago has been terminated, according to officials with the Albert Lea Bus Co. and Albert Lea School District…

…The 11-year-olds said the driver yelled out to a black child who was not staying seated, “Hey, black kid, get your ass up here.” They said a taller black student confronted the driver. The driver reportedly stopped the bus and walked to confront that child, and that’s when the chanting began. The driver then called police.

Bus drivers. It can’t be an easy gig, especially if you have a bunch of annoying kids on your bus salty about going to school on Monday. It sounds like the unnamed driver in this story snapped and referred to a kid by the color of his skin, instead of, you know, pointing or something.

Think back to when you were a kid. Did you ever mess with the bus drivers? I didn’t because I was busy copying homework, but there were plenty on the bus who did. But, as kids, we didn’t realize that bus driver was undoubtedly having a 7 a.m. case of the Mondays with no coworkers to vent to, and 45 kids acting like a-holes.

Point is: If you know a bus driver, give him or her a hug, or buy them a coffee sometime. They probably need it more than you know.

Have a good Monday.
