Blind Girl Abandoned On Plane because Airline Employees Suck at their Jobs
I really hate when I forget to do something assigned to me at work.
I’m normally a rather functional employee, but now and again I let something slip through the cracks. It results in me getting a call to the boss’s office.
“Hey, uhhh, whatever happened to that spreadsheet we talked about on Tuesday.”
It’s always the damn spreadsheet. But at least it’s just a spreadsheet, and not a blind human.
Jessica Cabot boarded a plane in Vancouver to meet her fiancé in Jacksonville. When she stopped over in Chicago, everyone deplaned and made the transfer … except Jessica.
A blind woman from Vancouver Island is not sure she’ll ever fly alone again after she was forgotten by flight attendants and locked in a deserted plane at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.
According to the report, she was stuck in the plane for about 10 minutes before a maintenance crew boarded and found her. I imagine that was the longest 10 minutes of her life.
And what did she get out of it? A whopping $250 voucher from United Airlines. A mid-July roundtrip flight from Vancouver to Jacksonville, with that lovely stop in Chicago, will cost you $749 after taxes.
As for the employees: “We apologized to Ms. Cabot for the delay in providing her an escort, and have taken action with our employees and vendors at O’Hare to ensure this does not happen again,” a statement said.
That’s a call down to the office I hope I never get.
