5 Years In Jail For Printing Racist Flyers at Work

6

Carl Hreha Jr. was a computer technician in New Jersey for the Attorney General’s office and clearly was pretty unhappy.

It sounded like he had a case of the Mondays every single week. Actually, it sounded like he had a case of the Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Why, you ask?

Hreha programmed printers throughout the office to spew out thousands of fliers while computer personnel tried frantically to stop the onslaught.

Not a bad prank, really. There’s nothing funnier than seeing a coworker you don’t particularly like standing at a printer waiting for their one email to print while a copy of War and Peace comes hot off the press. However, Hreha took his frustration a little further:

The fliers, which featured a Confederate flag as a background, called for the death of brown people and those of Middle Eastern descent. The papers churned out of 20 printers for hours until the rogue program was shut down.

OK, that might be pushing it, especially if your place of business is where they prosecute people (moron). So what happens when you’re found guilty of bias intimidation and computer theft? For Hreha, it landed him a 5-year prison sentence. You read that right.

Introducing the HP2011, the printer that thinks for you.

Hreha was so unhappy because he said he was being discriminated against because he was a young white male. Doesn’t sound too outlandish, but how was he being discriminated against? He had a job. Was his boss breaking his balls for taking lunch a little too far? Or perhaps he couldn’t land that promotion to Senior Computer Technician? But considering this was four years ago, Hreha was just 24 — maybe it was the young more than the white?

Either way, we’re thinking Hreha will experience a lot of discrimination in the clink.

  1. How about just turning the printers off until they got the program under control? And I don’t know about you but my printer seems to run out of paper after about 10 minutes.

What country of origin is “Hreha”?

  3. Von Kaiser says:

McFly – Is “young white male” not a country of origin?

Sec4Life – Seems too easy to put a stop to it, no? And, I hear you on the paper. Had a laugh thinking about some intern reloading the paper in Tray 2 hoping the next thing to come out would be his spreadsheet.

  4. Mr.Man says:

I know Carl – He’s always talking about how America oppresses people and stuff. He even called me racist for not voting for Obama and then he pulls this. I love that he then went and pulled this. I hope he stays there all 5 years.

Unless you are one who never allows facts to get in the way of a good story, you should include the following: Hreha denies doing the prank. He was offered a light sentence if he would admit to doing it. He turned down the offer, knowing that not giving in to the offer would cost him more years in prison, which is exactly what happened. And, there is the fact that the prosecution, while playing to the biases of the jury, clearly failed to prove that Carl did the prank, and the jury ignored their duty to force the prosecution to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

    The truth is scary.

Imagine a friend who you knew very well, he did print flyers at work, but they were for his lawn business, and a car racing site, his way of taking a little extra home at the office, something we ALL do .

Then he gets called into a office one day, out of the blue, and is interrogated. Carl is the nicest guy you could meet, hes a vegetarian, adopts abandoned dogs, he is a hard worker, but they get him to give a false confession, lying to him saying he can go back to work if he admits it.

They used hypotheticals asking how someone would print flyers like this, and since he did it with his lawn care flyers and racing website flyers he knew how to work the system, and explained this to the investigators.

So for a while they had no case, just a coerced confession, but just the accusation lost him his job, unemployment benefits, and forced him support himself soley on selfemployment.

Then after a few years, when his business is doing better than ever, They finally go to court and after a short trial, Carl Hreha is going to lose his freedom for 5 years.

Carl is not racist, even if he was, 5 years is ridiculous for printing flyers. This is the New America or maybe just the way it always has been. The court system has no justice, it just keep churning out cases with no reguard for what gets caught in its spokes.

A very innocent and good man is in jail, dont belive this bullshit verdict.

    Good luck Carl :(

    A Reply to “The Man”

Carl has a right to talk about oppression since he worked for the state, and was convicted in a state run court. If he wasn’t convinced the state would owe him a lot of money for wrongful prosecution, so its in their best interest to put him in jail. Best to avoid the legal system, good job being glad a nice guy is wrongly in jail for 5 years just at the point he was really successful in his business.

You are totally a racist cause u didnt vote for Obama, dont worry dude its just cause you are a idiot, maybe u wont be your entire life.
